How Do You Treat Acute Pain?

We understand that acute pain can set you back in many different ways. It may mean you cannot go back to work because your headaches are unbearable. It may mean you cannot hold your child or grandchild because doing so would send shooting pain down your legs. It may mean you need a ride to and from home because all of a sudden you cannot turn your neck because of your severe pain. In scenarios such as these, we recommend to seek treatment.

If you were in a motor vehicle accident, you may need to visit an emergency room immediately to make sure you don’t have a life-threatening injury. You may develop neck or back pain a few days after the accident and may need conservative care, like physical therapy and/or chiropractic care. If your pain does not improve with time, you may require more invasive therapy, such as injection therapy.

Imaging studies, like MRIs, may be warranted, in order to rule out the presence of intervertebral disc herniations that perpetuate your pain.

Your immune system’s job is to eradicate viral and bacterial infections from your body. It’s very effective as long as you provide it with the proper support. The best way to do that is to rest. Being stressed out or not getting enough sleep releases hormones that suppress your immune system.
